State-Church Relations in the spotlight of the Presidential Library

The Presidential Library will host a plenary meeting of the public forum “State and Religion: Ways of Dialogue” on October 30, 2019 at 10 a.m.

Scientists, public figures, clergy and officials will gather to discuss pressing issues in harmonizing the interests of the Church, state bodies and civil society in modern Russia.

The event will be attended by prominent leaders and public scientists. They are Director of the North-West Institute of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration Vladimir Shamakhov; Rector of the St. Petersburg Theological Academy, Bishop Siluan (Nikitin); Vakhtang Kipshidze, Deputy Chairman of the Synodal Department for Relations of the Church with Society and the Media; Head of the Department of the History of Religions and Theology of the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia Alexander Prilutsky; Head of the Department of Philosophy of Religion and Religious Studies of St. Petersburg State University Marianna Shakhnovich; Head of the Department for Relations with Religious Associations of the Administration of the Governor of St. Petersburg Vladimir Ivanov; Advisor to the Governor of the Leningrad Region Vyacheslav Sanin.

Invited experts will discuss the role of the Church in modern society, the history of state-confessional relations as well as the interaction of the Church and the state.

The public forum “State and Religion: Ways of Dialogue” is organized by the North-Western Institute of Management of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, the St. Petersburg Theological Academy of the Russian Orthodox Church and the Presidential Library.
