Mikhail Kalashnikov: Personality and Time

Knowledge of Russia video lecture entitled “Mikhail Kalashnikov: Personality and Time” will be held on November 7, 2019 at 15:00. The event is dedicated to the centenary anniversary of the famous designer of small arms.

The video lecture is held jointly with the regions that are associated with the life and work of Mikhail Timofeevich. Tatyana Tensina, Director of the National Library of the Udmurt Republic, will address participants of the event with a welcoming speech via video conferencing mode. Anatoly Muravlyov, the author of the book “Mikhail Kalashnikov”, will speak from Barnaul (Altai Territory). The facts presented by him will help dispel myths regarding the biography of the famous gunsmith. The main curator of the Altai State Museum of Local Lore, Yulia Abramova, will focus on the creation of the Kalashnikov Memorial Museum in his homeland, in the village of Kurya. On the video site in Izhevsk, designer of small arms Mikhail Dragunov and design engineer Ivan Deryushev, who knew Mikhail TKalashnikov personally, will share their memories of what kind of person he was. The assistant military commissar of the Udmurt Republic for military-patriotic work Sergey Panchenko will talk about the upbringing of the younger generation in the region.

The video lecture will end with a speech by Ruslan Chumak, candidate of technical sciences, head of the collection department of the Military Historical Museum of Artillery, Engineers and Signal Corps. On a video site in St. Petersburg, he will talk about the museum’s collections and give interesting facts related to the activities of Mikhail Kalashnikov.
