Issues of preserving the native languages of the peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East to be addressed at the II All-Russian Congress of Teachers in the Presidential Library

On November 26, at 14:00, the Presidential Library will hold a plenary meeting of the II All-Russian Congress of Teachers of Mother Tongues, Literature and Culture of Indigenous Minorities of the North, Siberia and the Far East.

Te congress will be attended by teachers of native languages ​​and literature, educators, educational leaders, representatives of vocational education, science, public organizations, and the media.

The event will consider the following main topics:

  • the formation of proposals to improve the legislation of the Russian Federation to support the languages ​​of indigenous peoples;
  • issues of organizing educational and methodological support for ethnocultural education of children of indigenous peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East of the Russian Federation, increasing their motivation to study the languages, literature, history and culture of their peoples;
  • interaction of mother tongue teachers with the scientific community and authorities to combine efforts to preserve and function the native languages ​​of the indigenous peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East of the Russian Federation.

 

At 17:30 the Presidential Library, as part of the Congress will host the summing up and the awarding ceremony of the winners of the 2nd Literary Contest “Voice of the North”. The subject of the competition is devoted to life, life, traditions and customs of the indigenous peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East of the Russian Federation. According to the terms of the competition, the works are written in their native language with translation into Russian.

The Congress is organized by the state and public organizations: the All-Russian public organization “Association of Indigenous Minorities of the North, Siberia and the Far East of the Russian Federation”, the Interregional Public Movement “Association of Teachers of the Native Language and Literature of Indigenous Minorities of the North, Siberia and the Far East”, the Institute of National Schools Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia, the Herzen Institute of the Peoples of the North, the Foundation for the Conservation and Study of the Mother Tongues of the Peoples of the Russian Federation.

The event will be supported by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, the Federal Agency for Nationalities, the State Duma Committee on Nationalities, the St. Petersburg Committee for Arctic Affairs, the Charity Fund for the Support of Indigenous Minorities of the North, Siberia and the Far East.

 

The accreditation of media representatives is until 10:00 November 25, 2019.

Please note that entrance to the Presidential Library is possible only by prior registration and upon showing a passport: participants and guests of the event go through entrance № 1, media representatives go through entrance № 2.
