Online Naval Knowledge Day to be held at the Presidential Library

Online Naval Knowledge Day will be held at the Presidential Library on September 2, 2020. The event will be broadcasted live on the Presidential Library's portal in Live broadcasts section in accordance with the program of live broadcasts of the events, as well as on the institution's YouTube channel. The beginning is at 10:00 Moscow time.

The Naval Knowledge Day will begin with a welcoming speech by the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov. In addition, the event will feature speeches dedicated to Russian naval commanders, battles with the participation of the Russian fleet, discoveries made by Russian sailors, including those dedicated to anniversary dates: the 250th anniversary of Admiral Ivan Kruzenstern, the 300th anniversary of the Battle of Grengram - the last major battle of the Great Northern War 1700-1721, the 200th anniversary of the discovery of Antarctica by Mikhail Lazarev and Thaddeus Bellingshausen. Participants of the event will also find out what materials on Antarctic research are available in the electronic collections of the Presidential Library, and will be able to watch a fragment of a film about the expedition to the sixth continent of the planet by the oceanographic research vessel "Admiral Vladimirsky".

The topic of the speech by representatives of the Maritime Council under the Government of St. Petersburg and the Association of public organizations of veterans of the Russian Navy is perpetuating the memory of Russian sailors; in particular, the monument to Admiral Fyodor Ushakov, canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church.

The Rector of St. Petersburg State Marine Technical University Gleb Turichin will tell about the present day of Korabelka - the forge of Russian ship specialists, celebrating this year 90 years since its foundation.

Online Naval Knowledge Day will bring together cadets and the leadership of the military educational and scientific center of the Russian Navy “The Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Kuznetsov Naval Academy" (St. Petersburg); the Senyavin St. Petersburg Marine Technical College; the Nakhimov Naval School of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation (St. Petersburg); the Kronstadt Naval Cadet Military Corps; the Murmansk State Technical University; the Lomonosov Northern (Arctic) Federal University (Arkhangelsk); the Moscow cadet corps "Boarding school for pupils of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation"; branches of the Nakhimov Naval School in Murmansk and Sevastopol (Sevastopol Presidential Cadet School).
