Films about historical events available on the Presidential Library’s portal

The Presidential Library’s portal from Monday to Friday in Live broadcasts section provides broadcasting of films, video lectures and tours prepared by the Presidential Library, as well as by leading film studios of the country.

In accordance with the broadcast program, from November 16 to 20, 2020, on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the birth of the navigator Ivan Fedorovich Krusenstern, a video version of the information and methodological webinar "Russian World Travels" will be shown on the Presidential Library’s portal, which will focus on geographical discoveries , committed by Russian sailors, as well as the first Russian round-the-world voyage of Ivan Krusenstern and Yuri Lisyansky. Users will be able to learn about unique archival files, cartographic materials, periodicals, documentaries and newsreels, as well as books and brochures spotlighting travel around the world and biographies of Russian explorers.

The Presidential Library's film "Russian Fleet off the Coast of America", which will also be shown on the institution's online portal this week, is dedicated to the expedition of the Russian fleet to the shores of North America in 1863-1864, which became one of the brightest and interesting pages in the history of relations between the two countries.

Besides, users will be able to watch a video lecture spotlighting the main aspects of state and social policy of Catherine the Great, and the video "The most intentional city - a monument created by the state", which deals with the foundation and development of the historical center of St. Petersburg in the period from 1703 to 1820 years. The film features maps of the city of the 18th – 19th centuries, copies of archival documents, books and periodicals dedicated to the history of St. Petersburg and urban planning in Russia.

The portal will present an online video lecture "USSR and the Nuremberg Trials". The show is timed to coincide with the 75th anniversary of the beginning of the Nuremberg trials over the leaders of the fascist regime in Germany.
