Unique newsreels and historical video lectures available on the Presidential Library’s portal

The Presidential Library’s portal from Monday to Friday in Live broadcasts section provides broadcasting of films, video lectures and tours prepared by the Presidential Library, as well as by leading film studios of the country.

In accordance with the broadcast program, on April 12, marking the Cosmonautics Day and the 60th anniversary of the first manned flight into space, fragments of a unique newsreel, capturing the minutes before the launch of Yuri Gagarin on board the Vostok 1 spacecraft on April 12, 1961 will be shown on the Presidential Library’s portal. On the same day, within the framework of the video lecture “106 minutes of Yuri Gagarin: declassified details of the first space flight”, writer and journalist Anton Pervushin will tell about little-known facts of the first flight into near-earth orbit.

Also in the week from April 12 to April 16, thanks to the broadcast of the video tour, it will be possible to visit the State Mood of the Soul exhibition, which tells about the life and career of the outstanding Russian statesman Pyotr Stolypin, the history of his family.

“The Naval Regulations of Peter the Great and the Military Legislation of Peter the Great's Time” is the theme of the video lecture by the historian Nikolai Rogulin. Lyudmila Spiridonova, employee of the Russian State Archives of the Navy begins her lecture "Creation and activity of the Russian-American company" with a story about the sea voyages, conceived by the tsar-reformer, namely about the expedition led by Vitus Bering, whom Peter I, shortly before his death, instructed to find out the existence of an isthmus or strait between Asia and America.

People's Artist of Russia Nikolai Burov will tell about literature and theater as well as about the images and characters of literary heroes from the point of view of an actor.
