The Presidential Library's video materials to tell about circumnavigations, the Battle of the Neva and predictions to the last Russian emperor

The Presidential Library’s portal from Monday to Friday in the Live broadcasts section provides broadcasting of films, video lectures and tours prepared by the Presidential Library, as well as by leading film studios of the country.

In accordance with the broadcast schedule, in the week from July 12 to July 16, 2021, the Presidential Library's portal provides broadcasting of the documentary "Praying for the Fallen", filmed by the Presidential Library's specialists. The film tells about the memorial church of the Saint Martyrs Adrian and Natalia, which is devoted to killed and missing soldiers in the defence of Leningrad from the German invaders. The temple's parish is actively involved in preserving the memory of the fallen defenders of Leningrad. They created the Museum of Military Glory "DOT" and laid out memorial park around the temple. The film also spotlights the moral aspects. So, the cathedral dean, Archpriest Mikhail Strelnikov, expresses his idea on the origins of terrible war and value of losses.

...Alexander Nevsky was only 20 years old when he won the battle with the Swedes on the Neva. The glorious victory in the Battle of the Neva took place on July 15, 1240. The film "The Eternal Time of Alexander Nevsky", available on the Presidential Library's portal also describes the life and deeds of the Saint Prince.

The film "The Emperor Who Knew His Destiny" by the Saint-Petersburg Documentary Film Studio is devoted to the last emperor of the Russian Empire, Nicholas II. The film's authors, based on documentary materials, talk about the predictions made to the emperor at different periods of his life, and attempts to prevent them.

The informational and methodological webinar "Gavriil Derzhavin: Marking 275th Anniversary" will provide a review of materials from the Presidential Library's collections, revealing the features of the personality of a statesman and public figure, writer and poet. It features works and odes by Gavriil Derzhavin, unique archival documents and biographical essays about his life, modern dissertations, abstracts on the influence of Derzhavin's work on the development of philological science.

Users have an opportunity to join another Presidential Library's webinar - "Russian Circumnavigations". They will learn about geographical discoveries and the first Russian circumnavigation of Ivan Kruzenshtern and Yuri Lisyansky. The webinar will tell about documents from the Presidential Library's collection related to naval expeditions. It features unique archival documents, cartographic materials, periodicals, documentaries and newsreels, as well as books and brochures about the circumnavigations and the biographies of Russian voyagers.
