The Presidential Library’s portal provides history of Russia online

The Presidential Library’s portal from Monday to Friday in Live broadcasts section provides broadcasting of films, video lectures and tours prepared by the Presidential Library, as well as by leading film studios of the country.

In accordance with the program of online broadcasts, a new film of the Presidential Library "The Vologda Fortress of Ivan the Terrible", which tells about one of the greatest buildings of the era of the first Russian tsar, will be shown on the institution's portal during the week from July 19-23. Did the tsar plan to move the capital to Vologda? Why did Grozny stop construction and leave Vologda? Is his departure related to the famous brick that fell from the vault of St. Sophia Cathedral? Experts and filmmakers will answer these and other questions.

The historical theme will be followed by a video lecture within the framework of the Presidential Library’s educational project Knowledge of Russia video lecture, which will tell what helped the Russian people to overcome the Time of Troubles and how Mikhail Feodorovich, the first tsar from the House of Romanov, appears in the annals of his reign.

Video “The House of Romanov. 400th Anniversary of the Zemsky Sobor of 1613" will spotlight the collection of the same name posted on the Presidential Library’s portal, which includes rare historical materials converted into electronic format. They are official documents, memoirs, diaries, business and personal correspondence, newsreel fragments, photographs and paintings, audio recordings radio broadcasts, popular science films, historical studies, bibliography and others.

A video lecture about the Battle of Gangut of 1714 will be shown on the eve of the Navy Day of Russia.

Sergei Brilyov's program "Right to have Right" will focus on the value of the Constitution as a guarantor of the right to personal dignity, the procedure for making decisions of the Constitutional Court, the beginning of the constitutional reform in 1993, the complex of buildings of the Senate and Synod in St. Petersburg, which the first one now houses the Constitutional Court.
