From graffiti of St. Sophia Cathedral to space exploration. Films, webinars and lectures available on the Presidential Library’s portal
The Presidential Library’s portal from Monday to Friday in Live broadcasts section provides broadcasting of films, video lectures and tours prepared by the Presidential Library, as well as by leading film studios of the country.
In accordance with the broadcast program, starting September 20-24, each user has the opportunity, without leaving home, to visit Veliky Novgorod and well-known St. Sophia Cathedral. Thanks to the documentary film prepared by the specialists of the Presidential Library, users will learn about the meaning of the drawings and graffiti inscriptions of the 11th-15th centuries that have survived on sections of the walls in this ancient temple of Veliky Novgorod. It has become a kind of archive of written and oral history, allowing researchers to reconstruct the events of the medieval city and the oral speech of the authors of the graffiti inscriptions.
In addition, the Presidential Library provides a virtual tour of the unique storeroom of the Novgorod Museum-Reserve, which is only partially open to visitors due to the huge number of significant exhibits and the short time that is usually allotted to get to know them. Such an opportunity will be provided by showing the film The Golden Storeroom of Veliky Novgorod.
At the informational and methodological webinar for the centers of remote access to the resources of the Presidential Library Marking the 60th anniversary of the launch of the first artificial Earth satellite portal users will be able to see sources on the history of space exploration from the Presidential Library’s collections - the works of Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, Sergey Korolev, Yuri Gagarin, star atlases, drawings of satellites, newspapers with articles about space achievements of different years, anniversary medals, stamps, postcards, badges, fragments of newsreels and films about space.
Marking the 121st anniversary of the birth of the linguist, lexicographer, compiler of the explanatory dictionary Sergei Ivanovich Ozhegov, which is celebrated on September 22, the lecture History of the Russian language as the history of the people and statehood will be delivered.
