The video lecture of the Presidential Library to mark the 280th anniversary of the official recognition of Buddhism in Russia

On October 5, 2021, at 10:00 Moscow time, the Presidential Library will host a video lecture entitled Khambo Lama Itigilov. Serving the World as part of the Knowledge of Russia project. The event is organized jointly with the National Library of the Republic of Buryatia and marks the 280th anniversary of the official recognition of Buddhism in Russia.

The video lecture is free. The meeting will be broadcast live on the Presidential Library's portal in the Live broadcast section in accordance with the program of live events and on the institution's YouTube channel.

The meeting will be hosted by Dymbryl Gurubazarovich Dashibaldanov, Doctor of Buddhist Philosophy.

In the early XXI century, there was an event in Russia that made the whole world think about the true nature of the universe. In 2002, there was discovered the imperishable body of Khambo Lama Itigilov. This phenomenon aroused extraordinary interest in the world community.

Dymbryl Gurubazarovich Dashibaldanov will talk about this phenomenon and the life of Khambo Lama Itigilov. Besides, the participants of the video lecture will learn the details of his religious and social activities.

The Presidential Library's materials provide rich information about Khambo Lama Itigilov and the history of Buddhism in Russia. So, the institution's portal promotes the author's abstract XII Pandito Khambo Lama Dashi-Dorzho Itigilov in the Traditions of Buryat Buddhism. Also, the Presidential Library's electronic collections feature the publications Buddhism in Transbaikalia (1892), Buddhism Reviewed Concerning Its Followers in Siberia (1858) and others. The library's collections are available in a network of Centres of Remote Access. More than 1,300 remote electronic reading rooms are open in all 85 regions of the Russian Federation and 30 foreign countries.

Entrance to the Presidential Library is carried out only by prior registration and upon showing a passport: for media representatives - through entrance № 2, participants and guests of the event - through entrance № 1.

In order to reduce the risks of the spread of a new coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the use of personal protective equipment during the event is mandatory for all attendees.
