The Presidential Library's cinema club meeting to be devoted to the honorary citizens of St. Petersburg – siege survivors and heroes of the Great Patriotic War
November 30, 2021, at 16:00 the Presidential Library will host a cinema club meeting, which will present films of the cinema project "Breathing one breath...", in honor of the honorary citizens of St. Petersburg - heroes of the Great Patriotic War and the siege survivors. The event is organized jointly with the Petersburg Heritage and Perspective Foundation.
The film project "Breathing one breath..." includes five short documentaries. Its name was a line from Olga Bergholz’s poem "The February Diary", written in 1942 in the besieged city. The third film of the project is dedicated to the outstanding poetess, whose voice filled with amazing energy during the siege sounded on the air almost every day and inspired hope in thousands of people.
The first film tells about Mikhail Bobrov, who fought as a scout on the Leningrad front, participated in the work of masking the high-rise dominants of Leningrad (St. Isaac's, Peter and Paul's, Nikolsky Cathedrals, the Admiralty, Mikhailovsky Castle).
The second film of the project is dedicated to Yuri Tyukalov. He spent all 900 days in besieged Leningrad. In 1943 he was awarded the medal "For the Defence of Leningrad" for his participation in agricultural work and patronage of the district hospital. Yuri Tyukalov is the author of the central panel of the Memorial Hall of the monument to the Heroic Defenders of Leningrad, installed in our city on Victory Square.
One of the creators of this grandiose monument to the feat of Leningraders in the tragic days of the siege, the sculptor-monumentalist, people's artist who fought in the ranks of the people's militia, Mikhail Anikushin, also became the hero of the cinema project "Breathing one breath...".
The fifth film in the documentary cycle is dedicated to the Hero of the Soviet Union, pilot Vasily Kharitonov. The flight commander of the 123rd Fighter Aviation Regiment flew 400 sorties, personally shot down 18 and 16 enemy aircraft in a group.
