The Presidential Library to sum up the Year of Dostoevsky

January 24, 2022 at 15:30 the Presidential Library will host a Research and Practical Conference Fyodor Dostoevsky and the Modern Times. The event is held jointly with the Information and Methodological Center of the Primorsky District of St. Petersburg.

The Research and Practical conference Fyodor Dostoevsky and the Modern Times will be a kind of summing up the results of the Year of Dostoevsky, which was announced in 2021 in connection with the 200th anniversary of the birth of the world famous classic. In accordance with the Decree of the President of Russia, a large-scale plan of anniversary events was implemented in our country.

The conference at the Presidential Library will bring together connoisseurs of the work of one of the most widely read writers in the world: philologists, methodologists, teachers, students of educational institutions.

The conference is free. It will be broadcast live on the Presidential Library's portal in Live broadcasts section in accordance with the program of live events and on the institution's YouTube channel.

Maria Chernyak, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Russian Literature of the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia, will make presentations on the significance of the writer's work in the context of world culture as well as Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Head of the Department of Philological Education of the St. Petersburg Academy of Postgraduate Education of Teachers Sergey Fedorov, Ekaterina Kovina, Candidate of Philological Sciences, methodologist at the Dostoevsky Memorial Museum in St. Petersburg.

Olga Klishova, Deputy Director of Academic Gymnasium No. 56, teacher of Russian language and literature, will tell about the experience of studying Dostoevsky's works at school.

Elena Ivanova, Director of the musical performance The Case of Lieutenant Karamazov, will report on her experience in staging an opera performance based on the novel The Brothers Karamazov.

The conference will also include a screening of a video about the project “Comprehension of Dostoevsky together” and a video about an online marathon for reading the writer's works.

Students of educational institutions of the Primorsky district of St. Petersburg will present their research work to the participants of the event.

In 2021, a number of events dedicated to the anniversary of the world famous writer were held at the Presidential Library.

Thus, in February, within the framework of the Knowledge of Russia project, an author’s cycle of 11 video lectures Fyodor Dostoevsky - Conversation about Values was launched by Dmitry Bogach, Candidate of Philology, Head of the Department of Digital Didactics of the Radio Engineering College of St. Petersburg.

In October, the Presidential Library held a cultural and educational event dedicated to the youth of Fyodor Dostoevsky - the premiere acting reading of the play by the methodologist of the Information and Methodological Center of the Primorsky District Andrey Galitsky Now I will forever be silent about this. One can also learn more about the writer from the materials of the special digital collection of the Presidential Library Fyodor Dostoevsky (1821–1881). It includes copies of the texts of the writer's works and materials about his life and career.

Entrance to the Presidential Library is carried out only by prior registration and upon showing a passport: for media representatives - through entrance № 2, participants and guests of the event - through entrance № 1.

In order to reduce the risks of the spread of a new coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the use of personal protective equipment during the event is mandatory for all attendees.
