The Presidential Library to spotlight the scientist and historian Valentin Dyakin and his works

On March 1, 2022 at 11:00 Moscow time the Presidential Library will host a video lecture “V. S. Dyakin and the political history of Russia in the 19th – early 20th centuries”, dedicated to the historian Valentin Dyakin (1930–1994). This is the third meeting of the series of lectures "Outstanding Historians of the 19th-20th Centuries". The event is organized jointly with the St. Petersburg Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Dyakin's main works cover the time of the June 3rd (Duma) monarchy - a period in the history of Russia from 1907 to 1917. Other works explore the economy and political history of Russia since the beginning of the 19th century.

Igor Lukoyanov, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Leading Researcher of the Department of Modern History of Russia and Deputy Director for Research at the St. Petersburg Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, will attend the video lecture. He will share his memories of his teacher and talk about the contribution of the scientist to the development of national historical science. It will also be spoltighted a collection of articles by Valentin Dyakin and memoirs about him.

The guest of honor of the event will be the widow of Dyakina, a teacher of history at the St. Petersburg Theater Academy, Valentina Savelyeva.

The video lecture is free. The meeting will be broadcast on the Presidential Library’s portal in the Live broadcasts section in accordance with the program of live events and on the institution's YouTube channel.

The Presidential Library has been actively cooperating with the St. Petersburg Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences for several years. In 2019, a series of lectures was held on the territories of Russia as part of the Russian Empire. Six lectures were held. Lecture by Igor Lukoyanov has entered the Presidential Library’s collections: Port Arthur and the Russian Presence in China.

The video recordings of lectures and open lessons are also presented.

The letter should contain the full name, date and place of birth, passport data (series, number, place of registration), a list of carry-on equipment, contact phone numbers, the name of the media.

We draw the attention of the media representatives that it is necessary to forward applications for accreditation and arrive at the event in advance.

Entrance to the Presidential Library is carried out only by prior registration and upon showing a passport: for media representatives - through entrance № 2, participants and guests of the event - through entrance № 1.

In order to reduce the risks of the spread of a new coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the use of personal protective equipment during the event is mandatory for all attendees.
