The way Lenexpo created in St. Petersburg to be told about at the Presidential Library

17 March 2022

March 17, 2022 at 11:00 the Presidential Library will host a multimedia lesson for schoolchildren "Lenexpo" - a landmark place in the event industry of St. Petersburg". This is the seventh lesson from the series of lessons "The origins of St. Petersburg hospitality: events, people, places", organized by the Presidential Library in conjunction with the St. Petersburg State University of Economics.

The multimedia lesson will continue the theme of the development of exhibition activities in Russia within the framework of this series of lectures. The lesson that opened the cycle is dedicated to the first public exhibition of manufactured goods in Russia in 1829 in St. Petersburg, which the Journal of Manufactories and Trade called "a truly national event". This event, which played an important role in the development of the Russian economy and tourism, was at the origin of the creation of exhibition complexes in the country.

Lenexpo can rightly be called a landmark of the St. Petersburg event industry, however, the history and development of this exhibition complex are not known to everyone. Associate Professor of the Department of Service and Congress and Exhibition Activities of the St. Petersburg State University of Economics, Ph.D., will tell what used to be on the site of the exhibition site before, how and why the pavilions were built and what plans the organizers set for themselves.

The multimedia lesson is free. The event will be broadcast on the Presidential Library’s portal in the Live broadcasts section in accordance with the program of live events and on the institution's YouTube channel.

In the next lessons schoolchildren will continue to learn about the features of the formation and development of tourism in St. Petersburg as well as try to look into the future of the tourism and hospitality industry.

Interactive lessons and video lectures are regularly held in the Presidential Library. Detailed information is available on the institution's portal in the Multimedia Lessons section.
