Films about the murals of ancient temples and poems of poets of the sixties available on the Presidential Library’s portal

The Presidential Library’s portal from Monday to Friday in Live broadcasts section provides broadcasting of films, video lectures and tours prepared by the Presidential Library, as well as by leading film studios of the country.

In accordance with the broadcast program, users will be able to watch films about the salvation of the murals of ancient temples, their significance in the history of the country and the emergence of Russian statehood. The documentary film “Saved frescoes of the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Mother of God of the Novgorod Antoniev Monastery”, prepared by the film group of the Presidential Library, tells about the Antoniev Monastery, one of the centers of the spiritual life of Russia, a masterpiece of world art of the 12th century. Documentary information about the life of the founder of the monastery, St. Anthony the Roman, and the frescoes themselves, which have come down to our time, provide an opportunity to fully study the history of this period, to touch high art.

Filming of another film of the Presidential Library - "Saved frescoes of the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Virgin of the Ferapontov Monastery" - took place in Vologda Region. The cathedral is famous for the frescoes of the successor of the traditions of Andrei Rublev, the main icon painter of the XV-XVI centuries Dionysius. This is the only original painting preserved in Russia. The film tells about the restoration of the monument and about the discoveries that were made during the restoration work.

On the eve of April 5 and on the very day of the 780th anniversary of the battle on Lake Peipus of the Russian army led by Alexander Nevsky with the knights of the Livonian Order one has opportunity to watch a video recording of the lecture “Battle on the Ice: a view from East and West” and learn different points of view on the historical event.

On the occasion of the 210th anniversary of the birth of the writer, philosopher and revolutionary Alexander Herzen, which is celebrated on April 6, the Presidential Library’s portal will broadcast a video lecture “Classics and realists: the reform of Russian gymnasiums in 1864”.

The video lecture “The train rushes in an open field” will tell about the beginning of railway construction in our country,

The documentary "New Russian Traces in Dresden", dedicated to the stay in Dresden of famous figures of Russian culture in 1990-2000, contains reports on visits to the German-Russian Cultural Institute and performances in it by Evgeny Yevtushenko, Bulat Okudzhava, Anatoly Pristavkin, Daniil Granin and Bella Akhmadulina, whose 85th birthday is celebrated on April 10.
