The Presidential Library provides looking into the future of tourist St. Petersburg

15 April 2022

On April 15, 2022 at 11:00 the Presidential Library will host a multimedia lesson for schoolchildren “10 ideas about hospitable St. Petersburg of the future will be”. This is the eighth and final lesson from the cycle of lessons "The origins of St. Petersburg hospitality: events, people, places", organized by the Presidential Library in cooperation with the St. Petersburg State University of Economics.

As part of the project, which started in March 2021, the history of St. Petersburg hospitality from the 18th century to the present was spotlighted. The influence of the reforms of Peter I on the development of tourism in Russia, the first restaurants, hotels, international exhibitions in St. Petersburg, issues of etiquette and service in pre-revolutionary Russia - all these aspects were touched upon at the cycle.

The final lesson is designed to look into the future and show what St. Petersburg will be like in a few years. In what direction will the hospitality industry of the cultural capital of Russia develop? What professions of the future for the development of urban space in 10–15 years will be in demand? Why won't robots replace humans? How will hotels, restaurants, venues for events change? All these questions can be answered during the lesson, which will be held by Olga Valerievna Arkhipova, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor of the Department of Hotel and Restaurant Business at St. Petersburg State University of Economics.

The multimedia lesson is free. The event will be broadcast live on the Presidential Library’s portal in Live broadcasts section in accordance with the program of live events and on the institution's YouTube channel.

Interactive lessons and video lectures are regularly held at the Presidential Library. Detailed information is available on the institution's portal in Multimedia Lessons section.
