The Presidential Library’s portal provides film, webinars and video lectures online
The Presidential Library’s portal from Monday to Friday in Live broadcasts section provides broadcasting of films, video lectures and tours prepared by the Presidential Library, as well as by leading film studios of the country.
In accordance with the broadcast program, on June 1, International Children's Day, thanks to the broadcast of the Presidential Library’s webinar, it will be possible to learn about unique materials from the library's collections. They are textbooks of the 19th century, entertaining guides for children's reading and moralizing books. The history of children's upbringing and leisure is perfectly illustrated by atlases of the 18th century and old alphabet books, as well as the magazines Murzilka, Pioneer, and Zateynik, familiar to every Soviet schoolchild.
The film "Chief Prosecutor of the Holy Synod Konstantin Pobedonostsev" tells about a Russian jurist, statesman, writer, translator, church historian, the main ideologist of the counter-reforms of Alexander III. The broadcast of the video is dedicated to the 195th anniversary of Konstantin Pobedonostsev, who has been serving as chief prosecutor for 15 years.
One has opportunity to learn about the history of the Synod itself, the church authority formed under Peter I, as well as the historic building where it was located, according to the film “Senatskaya, 3”. Leading experts in the history and archeology of St. Petersburg during the imperial period were involved in the film. Today, the Holy Synod building houses the Presidential Library. The film also tells about the creation and activities of the institution.
The film “From Cavalrymen to Commanders-in-Chief” from the cycle “Russian Military at the Beginning of the 20th Century”, included in the collection of the historical channel “365 Days of TV”, is dedicated to the Russian and Soviet military leader Alexei Brusilov, commander-in-chief of the South-Western Front during the First World War, and in Soviet Russia - the chief inspector of the cavalry of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army.
In 1929, the "Library Campaign" - a cultural and educational campaign, the main tasks of which were to increase the number of library readers, attract the attention of the population and public organizations to participate in library construction, was announced in Soviet Russia. Its main slogans are: "Not a single literate person outside the library!" and "The book - to the masses!". Various materials showing the work of the country's libraries during this period will be presented during the broadcast of a video recording of an information and methodological webinar dedicated to the "Library Campaign".
Also, from May 30 to June 3, one has opportunity to watch historical video lectures of the educational project of the Presidential Library’s video lecture Knowledge of Russia "Battle on the Ice: a view from East and West", "Prince and princely power in Russia in the 9th century - the first third of the 13th century".
