Video materials about the Great Patriotic War available on the Presidential Library’s portal

20–24 June 2022

The Presidential Library’s portal from Monday to Friday in Live broadcasts section provides broadcasting of films, video lectures and tours prepared by the Presidential Library, as well as by leading film studios of the country.

In accordance with the broadcast program, from June 20-24, films about the Great Patriotic War will be shown on the Presidential Library's portal.

The film “Moscow-Berlin. Tomorrow - War" will reflect the pre-war atmosphere that prevailed in the USSR and Germany, which were one step away from the largest catastrophe of the 20th century.

The Presidential Library’s portal provides screening of documentary films of its own production. The video film “One Victory for Everyone” is about the invaluable contribution to the victory in the Great Patriotic War of all sixteen socialist republics that were part of the USSR, about the united struggle of the peoples against fascism; photographs of monuments, military memorial cemeteries, obelisks dedicated to the Victory are displayed.

The film “Praying for the Fallen” tells about the memorial church of the holy martyrs Adrian and Natalia, which is dedicated to the dead and missing during the defence of Leningrad from Nazi Germany. The parish of the temple is actively involved in perpetuating the memory of the fallen defenders of Leningrad: the Museum of Military Glory "DOT" was created and a memorial park was laid out around the temple. The film also deals with moral aspects. So, the rector of the temple, Archpriest Mikhail Strelnikov, reflects: what the meaning of losses is and why terrible wars occur.

The webinar of the Presidential Library "June 22 - Day of Remembrance and Sorrow" will provide an overview of materials from the Presidential Library's collections - historical research, periodicals, archival documents, lyrics of poems and songs, as well as visual materials: maps, postcards and photographs dedicated to the Great Patriotic War. Particular attention is paid to materials that tell about the defence and siege of Leningrad.

The film "Saved frescoes of the Church of the Savior on Nereditsa" tells about the salvation of the murals of ancient temples, their significance in the history of the country and the emergence of statehood. The film was shot with the active participation of specialists from the museum-reserve, restorers, and historians. On June 24, the first part of the film will be shown on the library’s portal.

The educational film “1825. Reflections on the Fate of Russia”, also prepared by the Presidential Library, tells about the socio-political structure of Russia in the first quarter of the 19th century, about the prerequisites, causes and course of the Decembrist uprising, about its influence on the development of socio-political thought in Russia.

The schedule of broadcasts of films and video lectures for the coming week is available on the Presidential Library’s portal in Live broadcasts section.
