Films of the film festival "Literature and Cinema" to be shown at the Presidential Library

18 October 2022

On October 18, 2022, at 15:00, the Presidential Library will host a screening of films - laureates of the International Film Festival "Literature and Cinema", which was held in Gatchina this September. The event was organized jointly with the St. Petersburg open screening of creative works "Screening".

Vladimir Litvinov, President of the Festival, Honored Artist of Russia, will focus on the results of the Literature and Cinema International Film Festival 2022.

Director Andrei Yegorov will present his new work to the audience - the documentary film "A Tram Goes to the Front" (Lenfilm). The tram is an integral part of the life of St. Petersburg, but so far no separate film has been devoted to it.

The tram played a special role at the most difficult moment in the history of Leningrad - during the siege. Due to the lack of fuel and energy in the first siege winter, all means of transportation stopped in the city. Exhausted by hunger and frost, people were forced walking to work in the snow-covered city on foot, sometimes overcoming many kilometers. But already on April 15, 1942, the trams started running again, and this was the first victory that inspired people of Leningrad. The film contains unique archival footage of the war period and memories of the inhabitants of besieged Leningrad.

The festival's readers' jury awarded the film "A Tram Goes to the Front" with the award "For fidelity to the memory of the feat of Leningraders during the war years".

The screening of films that participated in the film festival "Literature and Cinema" will continue the short films of the young screenwriter and director Sergei Khvostovtsev "The Cage" and "The Life of Ivan Ilyich".

Also at the Presidential Library’s cinema club meeting Olga Kostyuchenko, head of the M-Art school of graphic and motion design, will present to the audience a modern multimedia genre - a book trailer, as one of the forms of promotion of the Presidential Library's collections in social networks. The purpose of the book trailer is to interest the reader, to convince him to read this or that work or to refer to the original source of information. The theme of book trailers created by school graduates is the life and career of great Russian writers, poets and artists.

The event will be broadcast live on the Presidential Library’s portal in Live broadcasts section, in the Presidential Library’s cinema club group on the VKontakte social network, as well as on the institution’s Rutube- and Telegram-channels.

The cinema club meeting will be held at the Presidential Library at Senate Square, 3. Please confirm your personal presence by 10:00 October 17 by phone: 305-16-35; +7 921 594-16-13 or by e-mail: smolina@prlib.ru, Elena Smolina.
