The Presidential Library’s video lecture to be dedicated to the outstanding scientist Rafail Ganelin

On November 7, 2022, at 14:00 Moscow time, the Presidential Library will host a video lecture from the series “Outstanding Historians of the 19th–20th Centuries” as part of the Knowledge of Russia project, dedicated to the memory of Rafail Ganelin, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The event is held in cooperation with the St. Petersburg Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, where the scientist has been working for more than half a century.

Rafail Ganelin's students and associates will speak at the video lecture: Doctor of Historical Sciences, Deputy Director of the St. Petersburg Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences for Research Igor Lukoyanov and Doctor of Historical Sciences, Head of the Department of Modern Russian History of the St. Petersburg Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences Sergey Lebedev.

The lecturers will share their memories about the outstanding historian with the audience, will talk about his contribution to Russian historiography, and examine the main research papers by Rafail Ganelin.

The video lecture “Serving Science: Rafail Sholomovich Ganelin in the Memoirs of Students” will be the sixth in the cycle of lectures “Outstanding Historians of the 19th–20th Centuries”. The project tells about famous scientists who at different times were employees of the St. Petersburg Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences and contributed to the development of national historical science.

The lecture is free. The video lecture will be broadcast on the Presidential Library’s portal in Live Broadcasts section in accordance with the program of live events, as well as on the institution’s Rutube-channel.

The Presidential Library, having the status of the National Library of Russia, is a nationwide electronic repository of digital copies of the most important documents on the history, theory and practice of Russian statehood, the Russian language, and also as a multimedia, multifunctional, cultural, educational, scientific, information and analytical center.

It includes archive documents, research, visual materials, periodicals, and works of members of the Academy of Sciences. Entrance to the Presidential Library is carried out only by prior registration and upon showing a passport: for media representatives - through entrance № 2, participants and guests of the event - through entrance № 1.

In order to reduce the risks of the spread of a new coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the use of personal protective equipment during the event is mandatory for all attendees.
