The Presidential Library hosts the exhibition dedicated to Yakutia and its first president
From November 8-30, 2022 the Presidential Library is hosting the multimedia exhibition In the interests of people, society, state marking the 85th anniversary of the first president of Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Mikhail Yefimovich Nikolayev.
The exhibition has been prepared by the Library-Archive of the First President of Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) “Nikolayev-Centre”, branch of the National Library of Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), together with the Presidential Library.
Mikhail Yefimovich Nikolayev is a state, political and public figure of the Russian Federation and Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). He was the head of the region from 1991 until 2002. Mikhail Yefimovich is one of the most well-known regional leaders of Russia, who greatly contributed to the preservation of the unity of the Russian Federation, the establishment of a federal state, the multiplication of power and development of modern Russia.
The exposition shows the transformation of the region in the 1990s and early 2000s: the development of economy, healthcare system, education and culture. This period is remembered in the history of Yakutia as a time of radical change, establishment of the new democratic republic, strengthening of the region’s status as one of the stable and dynamically developing subjects of the Russian Federation. A big role in this process was played by Mikhail Yefimovich Nikolayev, who has always followed the rule “strong regions – strong Russia”.
The Presidential Library actively develops cooperation with a big number of subjects of the Russian Federation. The Cooperation agreement between the Presidential Library and Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) was signed in 2012. The grand opening of the Regional Centre of the Presidential Library based on the National Library of Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) took place in 2013. Remote reading rooms with access to the national electronic collections are also open in the republic. Joint exhibitions are regularly held in the historical building of the Synod in St. Petersburg; students and schoolchildren of Yakutia take active part in scientific and educational projects of the Presidential Library, etc.
The Presidential Library’s portal features the electronic collection Republic of Sakha (Yakutia): Pages of History. The collection of research studies, essays, reference and archival materials reveals the history of development of the modern territory of Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and individual aspects of development of the region in the XVIII – middle of the XX century.

Entrance to the Presidential Library is carried out only by prior registration and upon showing a passport: for media representatives - through entrance № 2, participants and guests of the event - through entrance № 1.
In order to reduce the risks of the spread of a new coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the use of personal protective equipment during the event is mandatory for all attendees.
