New Year's film trips to the regions of Russia together with the Presidential Library

The films and video lectures prepared by the Presidential Library, as well as the country's leading film studios, are now broadcast around the clock on the Presidential Library’s portal. On the first days of the New Year and Christmas holidays, the library provides a film tour of Novgorod, Pskov, Vologda Regions and other regions of Russia.

Thanks to the broadcasts on the Presidential Library’s portal, it will be possible to visit Vologda Region and see the famous Ferapontov Mother of God-Nativity Monastery, founded in the 15th century and painted by an artel of artists led by the famous master Dionysius. In the same place, on the Vologda land, portal users will be able to learn about the history of the construction of the fortress of Ivan the Terrible, about what function it performed in subsequent centuries and what is now located on its territory. This is discussed in the films of the Presidential Library "Saved Frescoes of the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin of the Ferapontov Monastery" and "Vologda Fortress of Ivan the Terrible".

One has an opportunity to go to Novgorod Region to see the frescoes of the Church of the Assumption on the Volotovo field, decorated with wall paintings in the middle of the XIV century, the Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior on Kovalev - one of the small monasteries that existed on donations from rich and noble people of the city, the Church of the Savior on Nereditsa, built in the 12th century. This will be possible thanks to the broadcast of the Presidential Library’s video films “Saved Frescoes of the Church of the Assumption on Volotovo Field”, “Saved Frescoes of the Savior on Kovalev”, “Saved Frescoes of the Church of the Savior on Nereditsa”.

The film "Golden Pantry of Veliky Novgorod" offers an opportunity to make a kind of excursion into the little-known world of the Novgorod Museum. The video will focus on the collection of arts and crafts. In turn, the film “Russian Icon in the Collection of the Novgorod Museum-Reserve” will show viewers the outstanding and most interesting monuments from the collection of ancient Russian art, numbering one and a half thousand icons from the middle of the 11th - early 20th centuries.

Film "Novgorod. 1150 Years in the History of the Russian State” is dedicated to the events connected with the establishment of Russian statehood in the Novgorod territories – the calling of Rurik in 862, the rise of Novgorod at the turn of the 10th–11th centuries, the political structure and economic system of Novgorod, and the entry of Novgorod into the Muscovite state.

It will be possible to visit Pskov land and learn about the most ancient monument of Christian culture thanks to the broadcast of the film of the Presidential Library “Saved Frescoes of the Transfiguration Cathedral of the Mirozh Monastery”. The cathedral was erected at the turn of the 1130s-1140s on the initiative of the Novgorod archbishop Nifont, one of whose main goals was the Christian enlightenment of Northwestern Rus'. The murals of the cathedral, created by Byzantine masters, are distinguished by the highest artistic level and rare safety.

The film "Capital City" presents the point of view of Anatoly Nikolaevich Kirpichnikov, the chief specialist in the study of the territory of Staraya Ladoga, that Staraya Ladoga is the "ancient capital of Northern Rus'". The study of the unique painting on the walls of the Old Ladoga cathedrals is discussed in the film “Saved Frescoes of Staraya Ladoga. Churches of the 12th century”.

The history of the Synod, the church authority formed under Peter I, the Synodal printing house, the library, chief prosecutors and members of the Synod, and the missionary activities of the Synod are described in the film "Holy Synod". Today, the historical building of the Synod houses one of the three national libraries of the Russian Federation - the Presidential Library. Its creation and activities are discussed in the film "Senatskaya, 3". The creators of the film paid special attention to the history of the building of the Holy Synod. Leading experts in the history and archeology of St. Petersburg during the imperial period took part in the film.
