The Presidential Library’s video lecture to tell about famous director Sergei Eisenstein
On January 24, 2023, at 11:00 Moscow time, the Presidential Library will host a video lecture “The Teacher of Filmmakers of the Whole Earth”, dedicated to director Sergei Eisenstein, as part of the Knowledge of Russia project.
Sergei Eisenstein (1898-1948) is a legend of Soviet cinema, director, artist, teacher, art theorist and screenwriter. He gained wide popularity thanks to the film “Battleship “Potemkin””, which was recognized as the best film of all time at the World Exhibition in 1958.
Doctor of Arts, Associate Professor, Professor of the Department of Theater Arts of the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts (RGISI) Natalya Skorokhod will tell about her experience in creating a book about Sergei Eisenstein, as well as some interesting facts about Eisenstein's early theatrical works, rethought by the author in the process of dealing with the book.
Vera Rumyantseva, curator of the exhibition, curator of the S. M. Eisenstein Museum Foundation of the State Central Film Museum, will devote her speech to the history of posters for the film “Battleship “Potemkin””,
Film historian and film critic Maxim Semyonov will give the meeting participants a virtual tour of the permanent memorial exposition "Sergei Eisenstein's Study" in the building of the Cinema Museum on the territory of VDNKh.
The event is free. The meeting will be broadcast on the Presidential Library’s portal in Live broadcasts section in accordance with the program of live events, on the institution's Rutube-channel, as well as on the page on the VKontakte social network.

Entrance to the Presidential Library is carried out only by prior registration and upon showing a passport: for media representatives - through entrance № 2, participants and guests of the event - through entrance № 1.
In order to reduce the risks of the spread of a new coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the use of personal protective equipment during the event is mandatory for all attendees.
