The Presidential Library provides online film screenings and video lectures

The films and video lectures prepared by the Presidential Library, as well as by the country’s leading film and television studios, are broadcast on the Presidential Library’s portal. Their screenings are timed to coincide with memorable and significant dates, as well as major events at the Presidential Library.

Thus, in accordance with the broadcast program, the video film Open Space. Marking the 50th Anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s Space Flight, based on the materials of the exhibition held at the Presidential Library, will be shown on March 9 – Yuri Gagarin’s birthday. The exhibition presents books, personal belongings, collections of Russian scientists and cosmonauts, objects that have been in Earth orbit, newspapers, posters, and photographs. The film also includes newsreels and clips illustrating the history of Soviet and Russian cosmonautics.

On the same day, as part of the video lecture 106 Minutes of Yuri Gagarin: Declassified Details of the First Space Flight, writer and journalist Anton Pervushin will talk about the little-known facts of the first flight into near-Earth orbit.

From the documentary Space Pilots, based on unique video footage taken during secret trials at the Scientific Research Institute of Aviation and Space Medicine, users of the Presidential Library will have an opportunity to learn about the lives of veterans – test space pilots, about their memories and dreams.

At the video lectures that will be demonstrated on the Presidential Library’s portal, one can learn little-known facts from the life of Peter the Great, see portraits of representatives of the Russian imperial dynasty – from the first Romanovs to the sovereign-heir Alexei Nikolayevich, whose portrait was painted on his 7th birthday in 1911. Users will also have a chance to learn the details of the foundation of the Smolny Institute of Noble Maidens and women’s education in Russia in 18th – early 20th centuries, to unravel the mysteries of the fate of the brilliant Mathilde Kschessinska.

Video lectures read by authoritative experts from scientific and educational institutions in Moscow, St. Petersburg and other cities of Russia are available on the Presidential Library’s portal especially for schoolchildren. The lectures unfold and complement the school curriculum for students of different ages – Russian Law in the Era of Vladimir Monomakh, and Vladimir Monomakh for Grade 6, How Russian People Overcame the Time of Troubles: Marking the 400th anniversary of the Election of Mikhail Romanov for Grade 7, 255th Anniversary since the Beginning of the Reign of Catherine II, Classics and Realists: the Reform of the Russian Gymnasium in 1864, The Russian Army in the Reign of Catherine II, The Civil War in Russia: White and Red for Grade 8, The Eastern Question in the Policy of Nicholas I, The Work of Pyotr Arkadyevich Stolypin as Chairman of the Council of Ministers, and Alexander II’s Law on the Press for Grade 9.
