The conference “Sea Vessels to Be...” to be held at the Presidential Library

On October 30, 2023 a scientific and educational conference “Sea vessels will be...” marking the 327th anniversary of the creation of the regular Russian Navy will be held at the Presidential Library. The event starts at 10:00 Moscow time.

Representatives of the Administration of St. Petersburg, the Main Staff of the Russian Navy, heads of shipbuilding, machine and building plants, research centers and design bureaus, maritime educational, historical and cultural institutions, famous designers and testers of ships and aircraft are planning to attend the event. The conference will involve the best cadets, Nakhimov students and cadets of Russian maritime educational institutions and their mentors - veterans of the Navy and domestic shipbuilding.

Participants from Sevastopol, Murmansk, Arkhangelsk, Voronezh, Astrakhan, Kazan, Novorossiysk and other cities will join the event at the Presidential Library via video conferencing.

The conference will be open with a speech by the chairman of the regional public organization of admirals and generals of the Navy “Admirals Club”, Admiral Viktor Chirkov, who served as Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy in 2012–2016. He will talk about the role of United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) in the revival of Russia's naval power.

A graduate of the first class of 1942, Solovetsky Jung School, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, captain 1st rank, historian and writer Alexander Maslakov, will greet the event participants.

The conference “Sea Vessels to Be...” will also touch upon topics related to different periods of the history of the Russian fleet - from the era of the sailing fleet to the present; special attention will be paid to the mass heroism of army and navy soldiers during the siege and liberation of Leningrad.

The event is free. The conference will be broadcast on the Presidential Library’s portal in the Live Broadcasts section in accordance with the program of live events and on the institution’s Rutube-channel.

The organizers of the conference are the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation; Main Command of the Navy; United Shipbuilding Corporation; Regional public organization of admirals and generals of the Navy of St. Petersburg “Admirals Club”; "Maritime Lyceum of the Primorsky District of St. Petersburg"; the Presidential Library.

The Presidential Library pays much attention to the history and achievements of the Russian fleet. The electronic collections of the institution involve many archival documents and materials related to this topic. The annual holding of such major events as Cadet Day and Naval Knowledge Day at the Presidential Library has already become a tradition. In addition, video lectures and exhibitions about the creation of the Russian fleet and its role in the history of the country are regularly held.

The letter should contain the full name, date and place of birth, passport data (series, number, place of registration), a list of carry-on equipment, contact phone numbers, the name of the media.

We draw the attention of the media representatives that it is necessary to forward applications for accreditation and arrive at the event in advance.

Entrance to the Presidential Library is carried out only by prior registration and upon showing a passport: for media representatives - through entrance № 2, participants and guests of the event - through entrance № 1.

In order to reduce the risks of the spread of a new coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the use of personal protective equipment during the event is mandatory for all attendees.
