A remote electronic reading room of the Presidential Library to be open in India

On November 21, 2023 at 11:00, a remote access center to the resources of the Presidential Library, subordinate to the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation, will be open at the Russian House in Mumbai. Residents of India will have full access to the national electronic repository, which contains more than a million documents and materials on the history of Russia.

The event will be held at the Presidential Library via video conferencing. Representatives of the Consulate General of India in St. Petersburg, the Russian House in Mumbai and other honored guests will join the opening ceremony of the remote reading room of the Presidential Library.

Meeting participants will be able to learn about the electronic collection of the Presidential Library Russia – India: the History of Relations. The collection contains notes from travelers, historical research, dictionaries, archival and visual materials that cover the history of India from ancient times to the present day, as well as Russian-Indian state, economic and cultural relations throughout the 19th–21st centuries.

The opening of a remote reading room will be a continuation of cooperation between the Presidential Library and the Russian House in Mumbai. At the end of January 2023, an event was held at the Russian House in Mumbai dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the breaking of the siege of Leningrad and the next anniversary of its liberation from the Nazi siege, within which the exhibition “Defence of Leningrad” prepared by the Presidential Library was opened.

The Presidential Library is under the jurisdiction of the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation and is the first electronic national library of Russia.

The library is located in the historical center of St. Petersburg and is the largest multifunctional information, scientific, educational and cultural center.

The Presidential Library's collections, which currently number more than a million depository items, digitally include books and periodicals, newsreels, photographs, scientific and educational films, dissertation abstracts, archival documents and materials on the history of Russian statehood, theory and practice of law, in Russian as the state language of the Russian Federation.

More than 1,500 remote access centers to the resources of the Presidential Library have been opened in the Russian Federation and abroad.

The letter should contain the full name, date and place of birth, passport data (series, number, place of registration), a list of carry-on equipment, contact phone numbers, the name of the media.

We draw the attention of the media representatives that it is necessary to forward applications for accreditation and arrive at the event in advance.

Entrance to the Presidential Library is carried out only by prior registration and upon showing a passport: for media representatives - through entrance № 2, participants and guests of the event - through entrance № 1.

In order to reduce the risks of the spread of a new coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the use of personal protective equipment during the event is mandatory for all attendees.
