The Presidential Library to spotlight the role of special services in the liberation of Leningrad
In 2024 the Presidential Library continues the series of video lecture Knowledge of Russia dedicated to the history of Russian state security agencies.
As part of the cycle, participants can learn about the main areas of activity of the intelligence services, the specifics of professional activities, the most interesting and significant operations and outstanding employees. Recordings of the first three lectures of the series, held in 2023, are available on the Rutube-channel of the Presidential Library.
A lecture “SMERSH of the Leningrad Front. The role of SMERSH in the liberation of Leningrad" will be held on January 17, 2024 at 16:00 at Senate Square, 3. At the event, the emergence of the counterintelligence organization “Death to Spies!”, its role in countering the espionage services of Nazi Germany, as well as the contribution of the 4th Directorate of the NKVD in the liquidation of the Leningrad enemy group, will be discussed.
The video lecture is free. The meeting will be broadcast on the Presidential Library’s portal in Live Broadcasts section in accordance with the program of live events, on the Rutube-channel of the institution, as well as on the social networks VKontakte and Odnoklassniki.

Entrance to the Presidential Library is carried out only by prior registration and upon showing a passport: for media representatives - through entrance № 2, participants and guests of the event - through entrance № 1.
