The Presidential Library's video lecture to “discover Sakhalin”

On April 27, 2024 at 11:00 Moscow time the Presidential Library as part of the video lecture Knowledge of Russia will host a lecture “Discovering Sakhalin” marking the 75th anniversary of the foundation of Sakhalin State University.

Elena Lisitsyna, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Russian and General History of Sakhalin State University, will talk about how the higher education institution developed, the stages of its formation, its current state and prospects.

In 1949, four years after the end of World War II, the Yuzhno-Sakhalin Teachers' Institute with a two-year training period was established in the south of the island. In 1954, it was transformed into a state pedagogical institute, where three faculties trained teachers in six specialties. In 1998, by decision of the Government of the Russian Federation, the university received the status of a classical university. Today, Sakhalin State University is the main source of personnel for all areas of activity in Sakhalin Region.

The video lecture is free. It will be broadcast on the Presidential Library’s portal in Live Broadcasts section in accordance with the program of live events, on the Rutube-channel of the institution, as well as on the social networks VKontakte and Odnoklassniki.
