
Presidential Library hosts "Stalin's ten blows" conference dedicated to the Great Patriotic War
On October 17, 2024, the Presidential Library will be hosting the Russian Scientific Conference 1944: Stalin's Ten Blows to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Leningrad from Nazi occupation and the expulsion of German troops from the Soviet Union.
Organizers of the event are the Presidential Library, the Russian Military Historical Society, and the Russian Historical Society, with support of the History of Fatherland Foundation.
In 1944, Soviet troops defeated Nazi German troops in the USSR, marking the end of the war. The Stalin's Ten Blows were a series of large-scale offensive operations that played a significant role in achieving victory in the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945). One of the most significant events of this period was the complete liberation of Leningrad from Nazi siege. These operations led to the liberation of the entire territory of the USSR from fascist occupation.
To commemorate the 80th anniversary of these important historical events, the Presidential Library invites discussion on the significance of 1944 as a turning point in the struggle against Nazi Germany. It will focus on the events that occurred at the front, foreign policy, and Soviet society during this year.
The following topics are planned for discussion:
– Operations of the Armed Forces of the USSR
– The complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi siege
– International relations and the opening of a second front
– Intelligence and counterintelligence work
– The partisan movement and its role in the liberation of the territory of the USSR
– Rear operations
– Culture, education and science
– Crimes of the Nazi regime in the occupied territory
– Projects and events in honor of the memorable events of 1944
On the day of “Stalin's Ten Blows” conference at the Presidential Library, visitors will have the opportunity to explore the multimedia exhibition "Photographic Chronicle of the Defence and Siege of Leningrad".

An application for participation in the conference can also be sent by e-mail bagrin@prlib.ru no later than September 20, 2024. Applications for participation as listeners are accepted until October 15, 2024.
Participation in the conference is free of charge. Remote participation in video communication mode is possible only for nonresident participants.
The opening of the conference and the plenary session will be broadcast on the portal The Presidential Library in the section Live broadcasts in accordance with the program of live broadcasts of events, on the Rutube channel of the institution, as well as on the pages on social networks VKontakte and Odnoklassniki.
Following the results of the conference, a collection of scientific papers will be published, which will be included in the Russian Science Citation Index (RISC).
