Film screening at Presidential Library dedicated to preservation and development of accelerator production in Russia

On December 17th, 2024 at 12:00 Moscow Time, the Presidential Library will be hosting a screening of the popular science film Accelerators and Cyclotrons, produced by the Progress Production Center. Julian Baryshnikov is the director of photography and author of the script.

The film will showcase the design of linear accelerator and cyclotron devices, as well as their applications. It will focus on the Scientific Research Institute of Electrophysical Equipment, a leading Russian manufacturer of these devices, and the KORAD enterprise, another Russian scientific and industrial company that produces linear accelerators.

The film's creators tell the story of the history of linear accelerators and cyclotrons. In Russia, the first small cyclotron was launched in 1933 in Leningrad, at the Institute of Physics and Technology, under the leadership of young scientist Igor Kurchatov. At that time, Leningrad was a center for nuclear research, and famous nuclear physicists would gather to discuss their ideas and discoveries there.

The film focuses on the development of accelerators both in Russia and around the world, as well as on the importance of loyalty to one's profession as an engineer, inventor, or scientist.

Director Julian Baryshnikov and producer Lyudmila Leontieva will attend the screening of the film.

The screening is available for everyone. The event will be broadcasted on the Presidential Library’s portal in Live Broadcasts section, as well as on the Rutube-channel of the Library, on the social networks VKontakte and Odnoklassniki.
