Commemorative event in Presidential Library will be dedicated to cities and countries that hosted residents of besieged Leningrad
On January 29, 2025, at 12:00, the X Charity Commemorative event Grateful Leningrad will be held at the Presidential Library as part of the video lecture Knowledge of Russia.
According to tradition, during the celebration of the next anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi siege, residents of St. Petersburg, veterans, students and schoolchildren, representatives of enterprises and institutions meet to say words of gratitude to those cities and countries where Leningraders were evacuated during the Great Patriotic War. For the second year in a row, a commemorative event is being held at the Presidential Library.
The participants of the event will recall how residents of the besieged city were greeted in the Krasnodar Territory and Nizhny Novgorod, Tyumen and Yaroslavl, Perm and Kazakhstan.
St. Petersburg artists will take part in the commemorative event. The presenters will be theater and film actor, TV presenter Andrey Urgant and actress, artistic director of the Olga Bergholts Drama Theater Anna Zagrebneva.
You can learn more about the tragic days in the history of the city thanks to the materials of the electronic collection of the Presidential Library Defenсe and Siege of Leningrad. It includes digitized official documents, newspapers, cards, flyers, memos, postcards, materials from the personal archives of St. Petersburg residents, photo and newsreel footage, as well as a series of television programs Diary of the Siege. One of his issues is dedicated to evacuation.
The organizers of the X Charity Commemorative Event Grateful Leningrad are the Peaceful People Foundation for Social Initiatives together with the Residents of Besieged Leningrad NGO with the support of the Presidential Library of the Administrtaive Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation, the St. Petersburg Committee on Social Policy, the Committee on Interethnic Relations and the Implementation of Migration Policy in St. Petersburg, and the Civic Chamber St. Petersburg, Piskarevsky Memorial Cemetery, as well as state, public organizations and national associations.
The event is available for everyone. The event will be broadcasted on the Presidential Library’s portal in Live Broadcasts section, as well as on the Rutube-channel of the Library, on the social networks VKontakte and Odnoklassniki.

Entrance to the Presidential Library is carried out only by prior registration and upon showing a passport: for media representatives - through entrance № 2, participants and guests of the event - through entrance № 1.
