Electronic exhibition at Presidential Library dedicated to Pushkin Nature Reserve
From Febrary 10 unril February 25, 2025, visitors can enjoy the multimedia exhibition Alexander Pushkin in Mikhailovskoe at the Presidential Library. This exhibition was opened to coincide with Poet's Memorial Day, celebrated annually on February 10.
The exhibition pays tribute to one of the most productive periods in Alexander Pushkin's life and work, as well as the role of Mikhailovskoe, the place where he lived and created.
In 1922, Pushkin's family estate in Mikhailovskoe was designated as a state museum and has been attracting visitors for over a century, inspiring thousands to study the poet's legacy and the Russian language.
He lived in Mikhailovskoye, "in exile in the north," from August 1824 to September 1826. During these two years, A. S. Pushkin experienced a period of significant creative growth. In the darkness of his imprisonment, surrounded by monastery blizzards and cold, he created around a hundred works, including the tragedy Boris Godunov, the comic poem Count Nulin, four chapters of the novel in verse Eugene Onegin, and also completed the poem Gypsies, which he had begun in the south.
The Presidential Library features plasma panels with fragments of famous poems, excerpts from the poet's letters to friends, memoirs from his contemporaries, including those from his inner circle, and documents about the barbaric destruction of the museum-reserve during the Great Patriotic War. The library also displays little-known images of different places in the estate.
The exhibition features QR codes that you can use to access sources from the electronic collection of the Presidential Library, which were used in the creation of the multimedia exhibit.
The electronic collection of the Presidential Library features a wide variety of materials dedicated to one of the most famous poets in the world. Some of these materials are available on the library's website under the Alexander Pushkin (1799-1837) collection. This section includes digital copies of books, articles, archival documents, videos, and other materials.
One specific section of the collection focuses on the scientific publication Mikhailovskaya Pushkiniana, which features articles and research from the staff of the Mikhailovskoye Museum-Reserve. These materials explore the history and activities of the museum, the life and work of Alexander Pushkin, as well as Pushkin studies both in Russia and internationally. This collection is beneficial for both scholars and general readers.
