The Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library jointly with the St. Petersburg State University launch Electronic Students’ Reading Room

On May 27 2010 the St. Petersburg State University jointly with the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library are going to launch the Electronic Students’ Reading Room. It will enable students, graduates, lecturers, applicants, probationers, and staff of the St. Petersburg State University and other universities to access information resources of the Presidential Library.

The opening of the Electronic Students’ Reading Room is timed to the first foundation anniversary of the Presidential library. The Room is located at the University’s Faculty of Law Library. Nikolai M. Kropachev, rector of the St. Petersburg State University and Alexander P. Vershinin, Director General of the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library, are expected to attend the opening ceremony.

“The fact that our specialized holdings attract attention of the youth proves a keen interest of the society in the history and the law of the Russian State. And we are happy to give everyone an opportunity to work with primary sources in the electronic format. Implementation of cutting-edge technologies improves search, and makes work with documents more convenient”, - the Presidential Library Deputy Director for branch work, Sergei M. Makeev stressed.

Within the framework of the inauguration the Director of the St. Petersburg State University Scientific Library, N. G. Matsneva, will deliver a presentation highlighting functionalities of the Electronic Students’ Reading Room. Representatives of the scientific community of St. Petersburg have been invited to attend the event.

The Presidential library was opened on May 27 2009. On September 1 the Presidential Library’s rooms were grandly opened for regular visits.
