“St. Petersburg Quays” Festival kicks off at the Presidential Library

The main performance of an American tenor on November 12 2010 – is the first public concert at building of the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library. This concert will give a start to the festival called “St. Petersburg Quays”. One of the missions pursued by the festival is unveiling new halls for St. Petersburg residents and guests of the city. A case in point, the building of the Presidential Library is a newly restored monument of St. Petersburg architecture dating back to the first half of 19th c., which was erected to the design of the architect Carlo Rossi.

“We are faced with a huge educational goal – to attract attention to the objects of unique cultural heritage of our city, a city with a great history”, highlights the festival’s Artistic Director, Honoured Artist of Russia, Maria Safaryants.

St. Petersburg music lovers have been already acquainted with the young American singer Michael Spyres. He has recently made his début on the stage of the D.D. Shostakovich St. Petersburg Grand Philharmonic Hall, Wiener Musikverein, the Real Teatro di San Carlo (Naples). The singer goes on tour to the USA, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, China, and South Africa.

Michael Spyres will be accompanied by the orchestra conducted by the Honoured Artist of Russia, conductor Constantine Orbelyan. His performance will feature works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Giacomo Puccini, Richard Strauss, and Pyotr Chaikovsky.

The concert will be launched under the patronage of the Department of Presidential Affairs of the Russian Federation with a support of the “Konstantinovsky” Foundation and General Consulate of the USA.
