Among the participants are representatives of Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States and Belarus, Yemen, Morocco and Mauritania, the Palestinian territories and Israel, and other countries.

Russian regions are represented by 71 members of the Federation. The participants are aged from 7 to 80.

At present, the jury composed of well-known photographers of St. Petersburg, is completing the selection of photos. The works are evaluated in six categories: "Immortality of the people in their language," "Cognizing the other, you cognize yourself", "Innovations and traditions", "Nostalgia", "Series of photos", "Holland through the eyes of Russians." The sixth nomination is timed to coincide with the cross Year of Holland in Russia and the Year of Russia in Holland. The winners in this nomination will be awarded by representatives of Holland.

As part of the overall theme of the competition "Language in a Changing World" there has been introduced a special, seventh nomination for professional photographers, "Professional Photograph." By tradition, the best works will join the collections of the Presidential Library.

Great attention to the photo contest paid not only by the inhabitants of Russia, but also of other countries shows that the competition has become a major cultural event, and its democracy, the opportunity to represent works of both professionals and amateurs, has attracted various participants.
