Domestic lexicographic traditions in the Presidential Library

On October 10, 2017, in the Presidential Library there will be public video lecturing from the “Knowledge of Russia” series focused on the “Domestic lexicographic traditions.” The event, organized jointly with the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia, will begin at 2 pm MSK and will be aired live on the Presidential Library website.

Public video lecturing is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Russian Language Department of the Herzen State Pedagogical University, the 100th anniversary of the History and Philology Faculty of Tomsk State University of Science and Research, and the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the work on the Dictionary of the Modern Russian Literary Language (The Great Academic Dictionary of the Russian Language), the publication of which began in the second half of 1937.

The participants of public video lecturing will be representatives of the leading linguistic schools in Russia.

Head of the Russian Language Department of the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia Professor Valentina Chernyak, PhD in Philology, will talk about the lexicographic traditions of the Cathedra of the Russian Language at the Herzen University and the development of the national lexicography.

Professor of the Department of Russian language at Tomsk State University Ekaterina Ivantsova, PhD in Philology, will focus in her speech on the development of dialect lexicography in the mirror of the local system of dictionaries.

Head of the Department of Fundamental and Applied Linguistics and Text Studies of the Ural Federal University named after the first President of Russia B. N. Yeltsin, Honored Scientist of Russia, Professor Lyudmila Babenko, PhD in Philology, will appear with the report on “The Ural ideographic lexicography: the results and future outlook.”

Participants of public video lecturing will be the students of the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russian.
