The Presidential Library Cinema Club will meet to break open “A skylight to Paris”

13 December 2017

The Presidential Library Cinema Club will meet as scheduled on December 13, 2017, at 4 pm to watch and debate a movie entitled “A skylight to Paris.” A film director — a famous journalist, laureate of international and all-Union competitions, Honored Worker of Culture of Russia Lev Sidorovsky, whose name is assigned to the small planet of the Solar System, will personally introduce his work to an audience.

“A skylight to Paris” is a quite private story about how once the characters of the movie (just like the heroes of a similar named movie of Yuri Mamin “A window to Paris”), when they saw the Eiffel Tower from a window of their apartment in St. Petersburg, stepped over the windowsill and found themselves in the atmosphere of an amazing city, on which they looked entirely on their own way. They came to a place where, in the words of the author, “the air is violet, where the buildings, and not only castles, of a golden-ash color proper to an old stone, where the small streets are lined with the paving stones and intersect with downtown — this city is incomparable to any others. All the centuries-old history of France is in it, to be sure — not only France — of the entire Europe!”

Lev Sidorovsky, the patriarch of Leningrad and St. Petersburg journalism, is a screenwriter, a cameraman and a film director, who accompanies it with interesting commentaries. Apart from the familiar to the entire world sights of Paris, his camera first of all captures these corners of the city, with which the author associates some interesting stories. And also this is Paris of Yves Montand, Edith Piaf, Marina Tsvetaeva and Osip Mandelstam, “overseen” by a sharp-eyed video camera of Lev Sidorovsky.

The Cinema Club will meet in the multimedia hall of the Presidential Library at 3 Senate Square, St. Petersburg, RF 190000.
