The first sound film of "Lenfilm" "One" by Grigory Kozintsev and Leonid Trauberg will be considered in Presidential Library cinema club

The regular meeting of the Presidential Library cinema club will take place on April 9, 2018 at 16:00. The program includes the presentation of the Cinema Club of the Institute of History of St. Petersburg State University and the screening of the film “One”, taken in 1931 by the directors Grigory Kozintsev and Leonid Trauberg. The film will be presented by Elena Kashchenko, Candidate of Art Criticism, Assistant Professor of the Chair of History of Western European and Russian Culture of the St. Petersburg State University.

The film in many ways can be considered unique: it marked the transition from silent cinema to a sound one. The film was filmed as mute, but on the orders of the Ministry was voiced, becoming the first "speaking" tape, filmed at the Leningrad factory "Sovkino" (now the film studio “Lenfilm”). The actor's ensemble of the film: Elena Kuzmina, Sergei Gerasimov, Yanina Zheimo, Peter Sobolevskyis is noteworthy. Critics saw the tape as a turn to realism from the experimentation of Kozintsev and Trauberg in the workshop created by them (FEKS - Factory of the eccentric actor).

For the composer Dmitry Shostakovich this was one of the first works for the cinema.
