In 1944, Soviet troops defeated Nazi German troops in the USSR, marking the end of the war. The "Stalin's Ten Blows" were a series of large-scale offensive operations that played a significant role in achieving victory in the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945). One of the most significant events of this period was the complete liberation of Leningrad from Nazi siege. These operations led to the liberation of the entire territory of the USSR from fascist occupation. To commemorate the 80th anniversary of these important historical events, the Presidential Library invites discussion on the significance of 1944 as a turning point in the struggle against Nazi Germany. It will focus on the events that occurred at the front, foreign policy, and Soviet society during this year.

The conference will take place on October 17th, 2024, at the Presidential Library in St. Petersburg (Senatskaya Square, 3). Work will begin at 10:00 AM, with registration for participants starting at 9:00 AM.
