History and Culture: ““Memorable Time”. Paintings of 1920s – 1930s” exhibition is opening in Moscow
A new exhibition ““Memorable Time”. Paintings of 1920s – 1930s” is underway at the Museum of Contemporary History of Russia (Moscow) from July 23 to August 27, 2018.
The works on display were created by renowned masters of Russia: Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin, Konstantin Yuon, Boris Kustodiev, Martiros Saryan, Ilya Mashkov, Pyotr Konchalovsky, who used to be members of the “Art World”, “Blue Rose”, “Knave of Diamonds” art groups in the pre-revolutionary period. Side by side their works make up a kind of a kaleidoscope of historic events (revolution, formation of the USSR) and stylistic solutions (cubo-futurism, impressionism and realism).
Later many of these authors taught at the Higher Art and Technical Studios, the Higher Art and Technical Institute, the V. I. Surikov Moscow Art Institute, the I. Ye. Repin Institute of Fine Arts, Sculpture and Architecture, and passed their skills on to the future generation of artists.
