Electronic libraries: The Ministry of Defense of Russia is currently creating the national electronic scholarly and academic library available to all servicemen

By 2020 the Ministry of Defense of Russia will have launched the national electronic scholarly and academic library available to all servicemen. Experts believe that the project, known as “Biblio”, will ensure that soldiers and officers from outlying garrisons have an opportunity to get ready for exams or improve professional skills.

Fifty academic and research institutions will team up to mount the electronic library, that will be based on collections of the Military Academy of the General Staff and higher educational institutions of the Ministry of Defense.

Special equipment will be employed at the Ministry of Defense educational institutions to digitize books, research works, articles, essays, handbooks, and collected works. The content authors, lecturers,  researchers and other specialists of academic and research institutions of the Ministry of Defense will have the right of the administrator to be able to introduce changes into their works online.

A portal will be developed to provide access to electronic publications. In future, apart from texts, it will feature video materials.
