Memorial dates of Russia: Exhibition “Alexander II in Tsarskoe Selo. “At home at last…” in commemoration of 200th anniversary of the birth of the Emperor is opening in Tsarskoe Selo

The exhibition “Alexander II in Tsarskoe Selo. “At home at last…” in commemoration of 200th anniversary of the birth of the Emperor is opening on July 31, 2018 in the Zubov Wing of the Catherine Palace  (Tsarskoe Selo Museum-Reserve).

The exposition showcases paintings, pieces of furniture, porcelain, weapons, items made of bronze, uniform (tunics) — around 200 items, which belonged to the emperor and his family and surrounded them in Tsarskoe Selo residence. Twenty-five pieces of furniture from the emperor’s study in the Ostankino Palace are on loan from the “Ostankino” Moscow Museum-Estate.

On display are weapons from the Asian Room, personal belongings from the desk of Alexander II (a clock, a briefcase and portraits of grandchildren), as well as pieces of the famous Lion furniture set from the sitting room of Empress Maria Alexandrovna.

For visitors the exhibition’s opening is scheduled for August 1.
