Society and Culture: “Here and Now!” exhibition of contemporary art is opening in Moscow

On August 1, 2018 the Manege Central Exhibition Hall in Moscow is launching an exhibition “Here and Now!” — a large-scale display of contemporary art of Moscow. The purpose of “Here and Now!” project is to discover new artistic trends, which bring together the contemporary art and the life of the city. “Here and Now!” will comprise over 50 projects and expand the very concept of “genre”: theatre, cinema, installations, sound-art, video-art, performance art, education, publishing industry and many other formats are united in common space and time. The exhibition’s projects are brilliant live initiatives, which shape the cultural landscape of the large city.

The project is mounted by the Department of Culture by order of the Mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin as a result of his meeting with young artists, which took place on June 6, 2018. This is the first time the Department of Culture has become an organizer of such a project, which is expected to become a regular event in future.
