The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin has signed a decree on celebration of 150th anniversary of the birth of the poet and writer Ivan Bunin in 2020. The document is available on the official legal information portal.
The Head of State has commissioned the Government of the Russian Federation to form a committee on celebration of the anniversary and plan and approve the key activities for preparing and launching 150th anniversary of the birth of the writer.
The document highlights Ivan Bunin’s “significant contribution towards the Russian and world culture”. He won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1933, and is known as a master of philosophical poetry, short stories, and also as a translator. Ivan Bunin was a three-time laureate of the Pushkin Prize, and since 1909 he had been the honorary academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
