History of Moscow: Outdoor exhibition “Traditions of summer holidays of Muscovites” launched in Moscow

On August 2, 2018 the Main Directorate of Archives of Moscow launched the photo exhibition “Traditions of summer holidays of Muscovites”. The exhibition focuses on the summertime recreation of Moscow residents in 20th century.

On display are photographs of renowned masters of photography – Nikolay Schapov, Boris Ignatovich, Mikhail Ozersky, Mark Redkin, Valentin Mastyukov and others. Photographs of 1900s-1960s present the mood of city residents and illustrate young girl tennis players, yacht modeling, football yard team, jogging and roller skating.

Archival photos captured the most popular recreation areas of Moscow of the last century: Gorky Central Park of Culture and Leisure, Sokolniki park etc.

The exhibition is available until August 23, 2018
