Society and Culture: The theme of childhood in Russian graphic art of 20th c. on display at the National Library of Russia

On August 9, 2018 the National Library of Russia, Prints Department (St. Petersburg) launched the exhibition “Only sky, only wind, only joy ahead…”.

The exhibition showcases lithographs and linocuts of best children’s illustrators, filmstrip masters and printmakers of 20th century, which illustrate the vivid and colorful world of childhood. Visitors have a chance to discover the changing image of a child in the Soviet graphic art during 1930s-1940s, 1950s-1960s and 1970s-1980s, and new solutions found by artists. The exposition displays prints by Yu. A. Vasnetsov, N. M. Kochergin, A. F. Pakhomov, A. N. Yakobson, I. I. Bolshakova and others.

The exhibition will run until September 27.
