10 August 2018

The exhibition “From the History of the Russian State. From Catherine the Great to Catherine Pavlovna” will run from August 9 to November 26, 2018 in the Tver Imperial Palace, Grand Hall.

To mark the centenary of Tsarskoe Selo State Museum-Reserve, which opened its palaces for the first visitors in June 1918, Tver presents a unique exhibition project “From the History of the Russian State. From Catherine the Great to Catherine Pavlovna”.

Valuable artworks and palace furnishings from Tsarskoe Selo collection and St. Petersburg collection of Karisalov family are on display in the central hall of the Tver Regional Art Gallery, which used to be the grand hall of the palace built by order of Catherine II and the residence of her granddaughter Grand Duchess Catherine Pavlovna.

The exhibition showcases the uniform dress of Catherine the Great, the portrait of Duke George of Oldenburg (O. Kiprensky), wonderful drawings featuring Tsarkoe Selo parks, masterpieces of portrait painting from the Karisalov family collection (V. L. Borovikovsky, L. G. Levitsky, J. B. Lampi), and exquisite pieces of furniture which belonged to the royal family.
