History and Culture: Exhibition “Ancient World and Contemporary Sculptor” underway in Moscow

The Moscow State Museum “Burganov House” is presenting the exhibition “Ancient World and Contemporary Sculptor”.

The ancient world and its cultural heritage presents the plentiful source of creative ideas, concepts and imagery. Artist is the one who gives the antiquity, which encourages him to create, his undivided attention. The dialogue with the antiquity nowadays is the opportunity to see the contemporary human and our world from the perspective of humanist ideals of antiquity, which became the model of European art. Search for harmony and contemplation, impulses and heroic spirit, love and irony – this all originates from the aesthetics of ancient culture.

Artworks of graphics and sculpture of Alexander Burganov unveil the world of metamorphoses of antique images, illustrate characters of ancient epic, imaginary landscapes with recognizable elements of Greek architecture.

The exhibition is running from August 15 to September 15, 2018.
