
Russian language and Society: Pupils of Russian schools from all over the world join Leo Tolstoy festival
The International Russian Schools Festival has been mounted in Yelabuga. It has been organized by Yelabuga Institute of Kazan Federal University, Russian Language and Literature Department.
The forum is dedicated to Leo Tolstoy’s writings. The 190th anniversary of his birth is marked this year, which has been announced the Year of Leo Tolstoy in Tatarstan. Life of the future Russian classics writer was closely linked with this region. The author of War and Peace and Anna Karenina spent his youth in Kazan: he studied in the local university.
The festival consists of two stages. The first stage is held remotely. Schoolchildren of Russian schools from all corners of the world need to submit book trailers of their essays and drawings, which illustrate life and career of the great Russian writer. The results will be summed up in October. The second stage will bring together all the participants in person in Yelabuga, to let them take part in the interesting and eventful program.
