Exhibitions: National Library of Russia to hold exposition “Proverbs and sayings of the Russian people”
On August 21, 2018 the National Library of Russia, New Building (St. Petersburg) is launching the exhibition “Proverbs and sayings of the Russian people”.
The exhibition, which is opening on the threshold of the new school year, will engage children and parents in discovering the history of the most popular proverbs and sayings of Russia.
The exposition will display the collections of proverbs and sayings from mid. 17th c. up to present day; works of the first collectors and researchers of Russian folklore Fyodor Buslayev, Ivan Snegiryov, Vladimir Dal, Alexander Afanasyev and studies of contemporary researchers.
Brief and simple, they illustrate the centuries-long wisdom of people and all the richness of Russian language. They make the speech lively and eloquent and inspire writers and poets. The exhibition welcomes children and parents to travel to the origins of the native language.
The exhibition will run until October 2.
